CARBON MONITORING AND MEASUREMENT
Bhoomie provides advanced 3D and geospatial technology utilisation including LiDAR data capture for accurate and higher yield of carbon stock.
What is LiDAR
LiDAR measures scattered light to find range on a distant target using light pulse.
The range of an object is determined by measuring the time delay between transmission of a pulse and detection of a reflected signal.
A wide range of information can be directly obtained from LiDAR including:
- Digital elevation models
- Tree heights and digital surface models
- Crown cover
- Forest structure
- Crown canopy profile
Bhoomie and LiDAR
Bhoomie partners with Vector3D to ensure all the latest technology and expertise is used through this process.
More about LiDAR
More about LiDAR
- Airborne LiDAR has emerged as a key remote sensing technology for advancing the mapping of forest structure and biomass over larger spatial scales (Levick et al 2016)
- Airborne LiDAR technology can acquire the vertical structure parameters of forests with a higher precision and penetration ability than traditional optical remote sensing (Hao et al 2019)
- The core strength of airborne LiDAR lies in its ability to accurately measure vegetation canopy height remotely, enabling detailed and georeferenced three-dimensional (3D) representations of canopy structure and associated biophysical parameters (Levick et al 2016)
CARBON ANALYTICS AND INSIGHTS
Analytical and verification software enables Bhoomie to provide insight and analytics to each project to enhance outcomes.
Why is this important?
The captured carbon data needs to be stored securely and digitised to make the information usable.
Once this occurs Bhoomie can conduct a variety of analyses and generate insights into each project.
This information is then used to conduct the next steps.
How this is done
Bhoomie provides:
- Advanced 3D and geospatial technology utilisation including LiDAR data capture for accurate and higher yield of carbon stock
- Analytical and verification software, making it easier to undertake new projects and tap into new markets
- Secured carbon data storage, digitisation and management services through advanced cloud and blockchain solutions
More about data processing and analytics
More about data processing and analytics.
Data processing occurs when data is collected and translated into usable information. Usually performed by a data scientist or team of data scientists, it is important for data processing to be done correctly.
Data processing starts with data in its raw form and converts it into a more readable format, giving it the form and context necessary to be interpreted by computers and utilised.
Six stages of data processing
- Data collection
Collecting data is the first step in data processing. Bhoomie uses LiDAR technology to collect millions of measurements producing data. The data sources available must be trustworthy and well-built so the data collected (and later used as information) is of the highest possible quality.
- Data Preparation
Once the data is collected, it then enters the data preparation stage. Data preparation, often referred to as “pre-processing”, is the stage at which raw data is cleaned up and organised for the following stage of data processing. During preparation, raw data is diligently checked for any errors. The purpose of this step is to eliminate bad data (redundant, incomplete, or incorrect data) and begin to create high-quality data for the best business intelligence.
- Data input
The clean data is then entered into its destination and translated into a language that it can understand. Data input is the first stage in which raw data begins to take the form of usable information.
- Processing
During this stage, the data inputted to the computer in the earlier stage is processed for interpretation. Processing is done using machine learning algorithms, though the process itself may vary slightly depending on the source of data being processed and its intended use.
- Data output/interpretation
The output/interpretation stage is where the data is finally usable to non-data scientists. It is translated, readable, and often in the form of graphs, images, plain text, etc.
- Data storage
The final stage of data processing is storage. After all of the data is processed, it is then stored for future use. While some information may be used at once, much of it will serve a purpose later. Plus, safely stored data is a necessity for compliance with data protection legislation. When data is safely stored, it can be quickly and easily accessed as needed.

CARBON MANAGEMENT AND REPORTING
Bhoomie provides management services through advanced cloud and blockchain solutions where you can access reports and insights.
Why do we need to manage carbon?
Reducing your carbon footprint is important because it mitigates the effects of global climate change, improves public health, boosts the global economy, and maintains biodiversity. When we cut carbon emissions, we help ensure cleaner air, water, and food for our generation and for generations yet to come.
What is carbon management?
Carbon management is an organised approach to gain the strategic advantages of CO2 emissions reductions. Carbon management helps organisations stay focused on achieving their targets to reduce CO2 emissions and their use of fossil fuels.
Carbon management is a growing field for addressing the contribution businesses have to climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The approach is helpful for environmental management, because it applies a practical lens to an often challenging problem of global warming.
Finding the most straightforward, effective strategies for businesses reducing emissions requires measurement, accuracy, a combination of technological and soft skills, and a commitment to becoming part of the solution to climate change.
